- Armenian Songs and Dances.
Unless otherwise indicated in the credits, all instrumentation and vocals on all selections were performed, arranged, and produced by Robert Takoushian.
First four instrument/vocal tracks on each song were recorded at home, on a TEAC 3340 four track simul sync tape recorder, and then transferred to a 16 track, two inch format tape recorder at Twain Recording Studios in West Milford, New Jersey. The remaining 12 instrument/vocal tracks were added and mastered at Twain Recording Studios, over four recording/mixing sessions.
On many tracks, this album utilizes half-speed recording on certain instruments, typically the clarinet, bouzoukee, and 12-string guitar.
Tracks A3 and A5 incorporate the pedal steel guitar.
Tracks A6 and B6 were recorded solely at home on the TEAC 3340 four track, bouncing between a TEAC 3300 quarter-inch two track (AKA Half track mastering deck). These two songs were recorded in the late 70s, while the remaining songs were recorded in the early 80s.
The song on this album that was of particular interest to the Monitor Record label ( Owner, Michael Stillman) 和 "出售" the album, was B1 Hey Valla. This song features a MT31 Casio electronic keyboard using the banjo patch (to emulate the Armenian Canoon, AKA Kanun) at half speed, including the song introduction. Also featured on this song is the clarinet and acoustic guitar played at half speed.
B4 Sepastia Bar appears as an edited version of the same song (same recording) on the artist's first solo album, entitled, "Crossroads of the Middle East." (available on Ebay or via the artist's LinkedIn profile.)
B5 Dicranagersti Hop is actually a Bulgarian melody with Armenian lyrics, and the arrangement is inspired by the Cat Stevens song, entitled, "Ruby Love" (same time signature 7/8).
Track A4 consists almost entirely of the MT31 Casio electronic keyboard using it's piano patch(for rhythm), flute patch, and banjo patch. The remaining instrument tracks for this song were drums and electric bass guitar.
Track A3 - The introduction and arrangement are inspired by the introduction of the Elvis Presley recording of Early Morning Rain.
B2 Neyim Aman features the MT31 Casio electronic keyboard using the flute patch, cello patch, and the banjo patch.
A1 Mariam utilizes a double tracked capo'ed 12-string guitar at normal speed and half speed instead of, a double tracked bouzoukee.
B3 Im Sireli's arrangement is inspired by the style of Armenian Middle-Eastern recordings, typically performed by Armenian pop artists from the Middle East (Adis Harmandyan, Harout Pamboukjyan, Maxim, etc.), in particular, the song Ara Vai Vai (AKA Ara Vay Vay.) - 现在购买:
