is there somebody who can move all these chips : "Siemens" to "Siemens - S2 "
then 1317 cards are imediately at the right place .
Thanks
The "Siemens" item may then be deleted .. it's then obsolete
to keep it clean .. and for a better colnect .

In COLNECT Systems we find "Gemplus 5.3 (Yellow )"
Error 1) The picture there is same as GEM 5.1 (Red) !
Error 2 ) All cards defined there are Romanian Cards which have probably Gem 5.1 Red or 5.2 Grey
QUESTION ..
Do this Chip "Gem 5.3 YELLOW " really exist ??
Who can tell me WHICH card has such chip ?? SEND ME A SCAN ..
if No response .. I suppose it does NOT exist .. and will be deleted ..
Thanks

Read the HOW it WORKS file please ..
By the way : answer to user : 'oferwald ..'
he says : BTW using a card reader could be used for determining chip producers in a relatively simple way..
No this statement is wrong ! the card manufacturer is NOT ALWAYS coded in the card itself .. only in the first issued chipcards it is detectable .. but they give up that system as it was too complex and this info was not really useful for the fonctionality of the card , and it needed space ( even it was only 'half a byte' ) on a 16 Byte length codification.
But some manufacturers have a specific way of coding cards , and a study of this could give that a card coded with that specific algorith is from a specific manufacturer ...
Personally I have not yet enough cards scanned wirth my reader to give conclusions on this .. But I will certainly do later ..
Hi, someone changed Gemplus names for GEM1 serial. Please let also a Gem1 name without détails.
For me, best could be:
- Gem1
- Gem1A (Symetric)
- Gem1A.1 (Symetric - black or grey)
- Gem1A.2 (Symetric - red)
- Gem1A.3 (Symetric - yellow)
- Gem1B (Not symetric)
- Gem1B.1 (Not symetric - black or grey)
- Gem1B.2 (Not symetric - red)
- Gem1B.3 (Not symetric - yellow)

Nicolas
Hello, i know this topic is some years old, but i have some questions on that chip topic.
What are the sources of these names of the chiptypes? I can't find anything in the web. I try to create a Wiki site for german phonecards here on colnect, but in germany the name of the chips are all different. For Example Gieseke & Devrient - GD 2 = Module 10 in germany. I have now compared nearly all german chips with the name of the chips on colnect, but at least, i'm not 100% sure with it.
Another point, some chips are missing. For example 4 Solaic chips. But i don't know the name for it, in the style of colnect. I only know the german names for it, Module 70A, 70B, 71A and 71B.
And the last point, would it be possible to make a detailed page for the chiptype overview? So that it is possible to add some informations to the chips itself? Maybe the same view like on the phonecards section, one picture or 2 of the chip and then some informations about it. For Example the dimension of the chip or the diameter of the circle in the middle of some chips or some remarks with the name of some chips in other counries, so that it will be more easier to find the correct chip. I'm sure that many are struggeling on that topic.
Gutten Tag!
The coordinator at the time asked for copies (scans) of the existing catalogues at the time, the aim being to be as comprehensive as possible. I had provided a copy of the French, Spanish, Irish and Belgian-Luxembourg catalgues for this purpose.
To be checked, but there should be a section on the Forum on the subject.
The referencing of chips in Germany is indeed different, it is certainly more complete but it often caused debate among collectors in the years 2000 and 2010 because this system did not correspond to the others. There are of course differences between the different catalogues, but the "French" references of Gemplus, Solaic, Schlumberger and Axalto chips are globally accepted everywhere... except in the German catalogue (and I think this is where part of the decision of the time lies).
Once again, check with the current and former coordinators... as they know a lot more than I do! ![]()
Take care,
Michaël
