On 2024-10-12, we agreed to make a swap with Estevam Freitas [estevamfreitas] for banknotes. As promised, I sent my banknotes, which he received within 20-25 days.

After receiving my package, he promised to send his package on 8-Nov-2024 and shared the tracking code with me. However, after 13-Nov-2024, there have been no updates regarding the shipment on tracking systems.

I asked him several times about the status, and he replied:

"Hi. It is on the way."

"It's a little slow, but sometimes it happens, we just have to wait."

I requested multiple times that he contact the courier. He did so, and we waited another month for a response.

Yesterday, he informed me:

"The object was not located in the postal flow as returned by the Destination Postal Administration. The banknotes are lost."

When I asked about his next steps, he said:

"What was within my power was done."

I need a resolution with him to find a solution, either by sending different banknotes or returning my notes. However, he has not provided any further assistance.

I am requesting your help to resolve this matter.

The exchange was carried out, the letter posted in the mail with international registration, left Brazil and was lost in Europe, I requested measures from the mail, which returned not being able to do anything, because the destination mail did not locate the object RR233552537BR (by the record it is in transit, perhaps, who knows, it will still reach the recipient).

I have nothing to do, if the post office lost the letter, which left Brazil but was "stolen" abroad, what else can I do? Materialize an envelope at the destination?

I don't know what the colleague wants me to do.

I believe that it has happened that letters get lost in the mail with everyone here, it is a risk.

My qualifications show that I made more than 200 exchanges, all OK, only one unregistered letter was lost in 2015 as far as I remember.

How can I be responsible for the mail service of a country on another continent?

@estevamfreitas Thanks for the reply. Your package remains your property until received by the recipient. If it got lost you may request compensation from your post. You received a package from your swap partner, but he didn't receive anything from you, so you still must complete your swap (you must either send a new package or return items you received or compensate your swap partner for received items). Please, contact your swap partner ASAP and agree on the possible ways of your swap issue solution.

These are swapping tips and the sentence you've cited refers to using the unregistered mail, which has nothing to do with your case of the undelivered registered packaged. Please, proceed with solving your swap issue as explained above.

What can be done is, when the courier refunds the value of the postage, I pass on this amount to him, more than that would be penalizing me for a third party error, if it is good for him we can proceed this way, via paypal

Since you received items from your swap partner your responsibility is to deliver items you owe to him or return items you received from your swap partner or fully compensate them (not just the value of the postage that "the courier refunds"). It's not about penalizing anyone, you just must complete the swap, which is currently incomplete. Please, within a week talk to your swap partner and agree about the way to have the swap issue solved.

After this clarification, I inform you that I will send, simply because of the threat of deactivating the account, 22 banknotes from Brazil to the collector, random, since the ones he chose I no longer have.

@estevamfreitas As you were clearly explained the package remains your property until received by the recipient. It's not an "interpretation", that's how it works. And if your property got lost it's obviously not your swap partner's fault. You received items from your swap partner and he received nothing from you, so that the swap is incomplete and you need to finalize it without setting your own conditions like sending random items or compensating an amount at your discretion not agreed with your swap partner, shifting responsibility for your property on someone else, etc. If you don't have items that your swap partner chose he may choose different ones instead. @alpermim please, contact your swap partner and agree with him on the list of items you'd like to receive in the swap. @estevamfreitas please, wait for your swap partner's choice confirmation and after sending the package provide us with the tracking number.
