Canvey Island is a civil parish and reclaimed island in the Thames estuary, near Southend-on-Sea in Essex, England. They do not need local stamps for mailing like Lundy Island British Locals. They have British post offices located on the island which is not really an "island" at all as it is directly connected to the mainland. As stated on their website, "Canvey Local Post stamps are affixed to all mail dispatched from its main post office and 'walked' (Standard service) or 'bicycled' (Express Service) to local Royal Mail Post Offices or mail boxes on the island for onward delivery to the mainland and beyond."

In other words they are not British local stamps at all but are labels created by a private entity with ties to bogus "local" stamp makers with intent to make personal profits from collectors. They are being sold by a private collector and seller on ebid called "Alpha Thematics" who claims themselves as "not a commercial business". Purchasing them does not support the island nor any of its residents other than the ones involved in selling them in any way. Several major illegal stamp sellers are directly linked to on their website. Try to find their "main post office" and you will find there is none. In other words, yet another modern day stamp scam intent on separating stamp collectors from their money.
