The Accession Treaty was signed in April 2003 in Athens. On May 1, 2004 the Czech Republic and nine other states - Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Malta and Cyprus - will become full members of the European Union, thus increasing the number of the EU members to 25.
