The antecedents of what is known today as the "Welfare of Cundinamarca" go back to the year 1869, when the sovereign state of Cundinamarca, ordered the creation of the "General Council of Welfare of Cundinamarca" as administrator of the centers of charity. Currently, it is the departmental entity in charge of providing social and health services to the poorest and most vulnerable children, juveniles, elderly and disabled people in the Department of Cundinamarca, through programs oriented to protection, Prevention, integral training, social assistance, treatment, rehabilitation and granting of contributions in food subsidy in case of indigence, in conformity with the constitutional norms.
