Sg catalogue states that the original Hejaz stamps “were overprinted on arrival in Jeddah because supplies had leaked in transit from Cairo” - so presumably some kind of security overprint to validate them for use in July 1925.
The stamps without overprint are not listed by SG. It also states that very few were postally used except for the 10pi green & scarlet.
