Through its subsidiary "Swiss Post International", Swiss Post offered tourists in Italy a stay that guaranteed the delivery of letters in special letterboxes within 8 days. The stamps could be purchased at hotels in major tourist destinations. The correspondence had to be packed into boxes marked "Swiss Post", which were emptied three times a week. The correspondence was forwarded by courier to the nearest collection center, usually Milan, where they were sorted. After that they were sent to Bellinzona where they were codified and sent for distribution both in Switzerland and abroad.
