图像: Emblem of the Postal Department of Russian Empire and the mantle.
The emblem of the Postal Department a double-headed eagle above two crossing post horns is embossed in white on the coloured, oval centre and is surrounded by a stylized image of the imperial mantle topped with a crown. The face value is indicated in figures in each corner of the design and in words along and are beneath the mantle.
The essays of 10, 20 and 30 k stamps were approved by Alexander II on 20 October 1857. The production of stamps by the Department for printing government papers (Exspeditziya zagotovleniya gosudarstvennyh bumag) began in November 1857. The paper for the stamps was hand made. Two printing plates were used: the image of the double-headed eagle in the centre and the other parts of the design.
Officially the use of the stamps for prepaying ordinary correspondence began on 1 January 1858 (although not until March 1, 1858 in Siberia, the Caucasus and Transcaucasia). However the post offices were instructed by circular to begin selling stamps immediately on receiving them and the use of stamps in December 1857 is known. Perforated and imperforate stamps are from the same print run. It was intended that all 10 k stamps should be issued perforate but there were problems with the perforation machine, delivered from Austria, and the first batch of stamps had to be issued to the regions imperforate.
10510 copies of the 10 k imperforate stamps were issued to post offices in 1857.
The watermarks for these stamps depict the numbers have a height of 15 mm. - 现在购买:
