This item has been denounced in Georgia 2001 UPU Circular 50 and 2012 Circular 75 as illegally produced without the authorization of the postal administration.
From the first issue to roughly 2005, the stamps of the South Ossetia not made by the British couterfeiter (and later by Eastern European counterfeiters) have been printed in the USA with the active participation of the Russian-Ukrainian trade and publishing company "Limpex LV". All were made to profit from collectors only and have never been recognized as postage stamps although some have been used on mailing due to postal employee favoritism within South Ossetia and Russia who allowed the illegal stamps through the mailing systems.
