The postal emission consists of four stamps. Each one of them features the portrait of an artist known as a pillar of the French Artistic Mission in Brazil:Joachim Lebreton - leader of the French Mission; Grandjean de Montigny - architect; Nicolas Antoine Taunay - landscape painter, and Jean-Baptiste Debret - historical painter. Besides the artists, it represents the work in which each stood out. With the image of Lebreton, a representation of the journey from France to Brazil, with the outline of two prominent countries in the colors of their flags. In the Montigny stamp, the first building that housed the Imperial Academy, and the detail of a column capital of Ionic order. Taunay, the painter of Brazilian landscapes, appears next to the representation of the Taunay Waterfall in the Tijuca Forest. Jean Baptiste Debret, ends the block of stamps with a composition showing part of hamlets with products for sale and black vendors in the street. The colors of the flags of the two countries appear in allegories in the arts, thus highlighting diplomatic relations between Brazil and France. The chosen technique for the portrets was water ink, and watercolor was used on the scenes next to the honorees
