Manuel Mejía Vallejo, writer and journalist, was born on April 23, 1923 in the municipality of Jericho, Department of Antioquia, in the same locality where the new Colombian saint was born, Mother Laura Montoya.
It is mentioned in his biography that from an early age he dedicated himself to writing and at the age of 22 years he had already written his first novel titled "The Earth Was Us", published in 1965 and which describes the civil violence. Several successive publications, allowed him to win numerous awards and recognitions.
