- Lutsk is a city in western Ukraine, the administrative center of the Volyn region and Lutsk region. One of the oldest cities of the times of the Volyn principality on the territory of Western Ukraine.
In 795, as a result of the third partition of the Rzecz Pospolita, the Volyn lands, together with Lutsk, became part of the Russian Empire. Since 1795 Lutsk has been the district town of the Volyn governorate, and since 1796 - the center of the Volyn province.
During the Civil War (1917-1920) Lutsk repeatedly passed from hand to hand. From 1921 to 1939 the city was part of Poland.
