- The only British ship that managed to pass Dardanelles was the British submarine E-11. On 25th August 1915 the submarine attacked 3 ships at Akbaş Liman. Unfortunately all three were hospital ships filled with wounded from the front lines waiting to be transferred to the hospitals in Istanbul. The steamer Haleppo (Şehir Hatları Halep) sank with 200+ wounded which are now buried in cemeteries seen in the hills on this card.
