An interview with DJ Apps about his new mix for mp3ANGELS

Peggy Sinclair: So what was the thought process behind this mix?
DJ Apps: I’ve always been strangely interested in advertising and commercial artistry. Growing up, I’ve really been surrounded by it, and so I wanted to create a piece that conveys the flashy, overabundant and often times messy nature of advertisements and such from my childhood that I was so fixated on.
Peggy: How did you go about choosing the music for this mix?
Apps: Well I was looking for tracks that had that chaotic energy to them, music that wouldn’t be out of place in a video game store circa 2009, or a lucosade commercial, or a leisure centre. Many of the tracks I actually got from an old dancing game called iDance 2 that they had at my old school.
Peggy: I remember that game! It did have some pretty cheesy music, but very chaotic as you described. Anyways, what emotion do you think this mix gives?
Apps: Nostalgia, confusion, both.
Peggy: And finally, can we expect to see more from DJ Apps?
Apps: Possibly, but under a different name perhaps. Who knows?
