- One of the most respected Brazilian drummers, who has played with great names of MPB – from Ivan Lins to Paulinho da Viola, from Luiz Tatit & Ná Ozzetti to Elza Soares, from Edu Lobo to José Miguel Wisnik, from André Mehmari to Zélia Duncan – Sergio Reze will release his first solo album, after participating in more than 100 albums as an accompanying musician. With musicians Alexandre Ribeiro (clarinet), Daniel Grajew (piano and accordion) and Sidiel Vieira (double bass), Sergio Reze Falando Música Quartet takes a great journey through music soundscapes guided by an affectionate and chronological gaze. Entitled "Um Olhar Interior", the album, produced by Swami Jr, will be released on March 14 by the Circus label on music apps and on CD. Before that, Reze released the single "Manhã de Carnaval / Melodia Sentimental" (Luiz Bonfá and Antônio Maria / Villa-Lobos), giving a glimpse of what will come to the afloat with this project.
There is a text in the booklet of the CD signed by José Miguel Wisnik that says: "'Um Olhar Interior is more than extraordinary instrumental music album that at no time ceases to be. Here we have a journey into the sound and, as unlikely as it may seem, to within the song."
The artist's inner gaze dives into a deep Brazil through song and instrumental themes – from Chiquinha Gonzaga to Tom Jobim, passing through Pixinguinha, K-Ximbinho, Villa-Lobos, Milton Nascimento, Noel and Vadico, Wisnik and Mehmari. It is a work that deserves to be heard in its entirety, lining up its twelve tracks like those who enjoy the best music this nation can offer for his people and for the world. An affirmative character and a melodic thread emerge especially in two themes of the album, which like the single already released, synthesize how surprising Sergio Reze can weave the fusion of these composers. In "Asa branca" with "Trenzinho do caipira" 和 "Loro", the quartet performs naturally the harmonic beauties of Gonzaga and Humberto Teixeira with Villa-Lobos and Egberto Gismonti. In "O vento" 和 "Vera-Cruz", it is as if the two songs had passed life asking that someone could promote this meeting between Dorival Caymmi and Milton Nascimento. Simply, Sergio Reze Falando Musica Quartet blew the end of the wait and performed another moment of poetry from the album.
It is worth mentioning the care of the sound quality of the recording that was obtained and the acuity in dealing with editing, mixing and mastering, the object of search permanent quartet, music producer Swami Jr and Alexandre Fontanetti, at the Space Blues studio. No wonder, the album was born in featured in the publication of the March/25 edition of Audio Video Magazine Magazine, under the coordination of Fernando Andrette, founder of the Clube do Audio.
