说明:: August 17 2003 marked the 75th anniversary of the commencement of service of the "Juan Sebastian Elcano" as a training ship specializing in the training of future naval officers.

To mark the occasion the Spanish Royal Mint proceeded to release a collector coin, which, in March 2005, won the prize for "the best 2003-mintage silver coin", awarded by the magazine World Coin News.

The reverse features the training ship riding the waves, where one can see, in latent image, the crowned letter "M" and the number 75.

说明:: In the summer of 2006 twelve German cities will host the FIFA World Cup championships.

The Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre-Real Casa de la Moneda, aware of the importance of this sports event, scheduled the minting of a series of collector coins that began in 2003. These will be accompanied by others to be released in subsequent years, so as to form a collection dedicated to the Germany 2006 World Football championships.

The first two coins have face values of 10 and 100 Euros.

The coins commemorating the 2006 World Football championship, both of them minted in proof quality, portray H.M. the King on the obverse, while the reverse captures the players at different moments during a football match.

The obverse of the coin depicts H.M. King Juan Carlos I. The reverse side of the coin captures the image of a goalkeeper in a "stretch" to block a ball.

After the Euro currency has been in circulation for one year, we, by minting these coin sets, commemorate the first anniversary of the Euro as a symbol of a new European Era.

Depicted on the reverse is the Greek myth of the Rape of Europa, to which our Continent owes its name. This coin has on its reverse the same motif as appears on the 200 Euro gold coin.
