Mohammed Racim was an Algerian artist who specialized in miniatures. He was known for his depiction of Algerian culture and traditions through his artwork. One of his famous works depicts two male musicians playing traditional Algerian instruments.
Two men sitting facing each other with their legs crossed. They are playing traditional stringed instruments. The musician on the left is playing an oud, a type of lute that is widespread in North Africa and most of the Middle East, while the musician on the right is playing a rebab, a small bowed stringed instrument with a wooden body and a leather belly. The arches in the miniature are decorated with geometric ornaments and calligraphy in a traditional style.
