I have been collecting stamps for about fifty years. I have a large collection of all countries, many countries which I have most of the stamps the country issued. I keep only one copy of each stamp and if I have more I am ready to swap it for a stamp I miss. Most of the stamps are used but in some cases I put a mint stamp in the collection and in other cases the First Day of issue envelope. My collection of Israeli stamps is all such envelopes so the single stamps I have from Israel I will swap for stamps of other countries.
