Themes/Operas
From Collectors Collecting Wiki
Operas are a form of theatrical performance that combines singing, instrumental music, acting, and often dance to tell a story. Originating in Italy at the end of the 16th century, opera quickly spread throughout Europe and beyond, becoming a prestigious and influential art form. Operas are usually performed in opera houses, with elaborate stage designs, costumes, and orchestral accompaniment.
Opera productions can range from grand, large-scale works involving full orchestras and choruses to intimate chamber operas with minimal staging. Well-known composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Richard Wagner, Giacomo Puccini, and Georges Bizet have created masterpieces that continue to be performed worldwide.
Opera often adapts stories from history, literature, mythology, and drama, using music to express emotions and enhance the narrative. While traditionally associated with classical Western music, operatic traditions also exist in other cultures, such as Chinese opera, which blends music, acrobatics, and elaborate costumes.
