The special cancellation - also called pictorial cancellation - was born towards the end of the 1800s, when it was decided to use the cancellation also to promote special events, manifestations and days.

The special cancellation is a stamp that updates and fixes events of a scientific, medical, cultural, artistic, religious nature over time, by heart; celebrates anniversaries, inaugurations, calls for gatherings and humanitarian meetings; invites to folkloristic, cultural, artistic, sporting events.

It can be requested by a public or private body, it can have a rectangular, oval, round or other shape.

It contains the date of the event, the location of the event, the city of city of use and the image or descriptive text of the event.

Code formation

Series - Enter the administrative division the city is currently located in.

The ISO 3166-2 codes can be found on Wikipedia (Example, Italy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_3166-2:IT)

- Format the code according to the following pattern:

- Use Colnect codes for the code, date of use with the acronym SC

Ex. US SC2004-01-01


- Write the name of the city after the date. If the name is too long, shorten it accordingly.

Ex. US SC2004-01-01 NewYork or NewY
